Why can not I use a CFL bulb in a regulator or an electronic timer?
Standard bulbs are simply elements resistance and to respond predictably when the input voltage is changed or modulated. CFL, on the other hand, are ... fluorescent compact that the equivalent of a ballast circuit switching, etc. When you lower the input voltage (as a regulator) difficult to follow operating voltages of the lamp itself. Once the input voltage falls below a certain level, simply by not maintaining the operating voltage and outside.
